Dalai Lama - How can we teach our children not to be angry?

Dalai Lama. His Holiness is both the temporal and the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people.

Reading in TIME Magazine of July 5th, 2010 I was struck by Dalai Lama’s response to a question. Thought I share it with you;

Question was: How can we teach our children not to be angry?

Response: Children always look to their parents. Parents should be calm. You can teach children that you face a lot of problems but you must react to those problems with a calm mind and reason.

I have always had this view about the modern education system: WE pay attention to brain development, but the development of warm heartedness we take for granted!

I often feel, while buried in our issue, parents forget that our prime responsibility is towards the development of the next generation human beings! But, living in an era of stiff competition, we forget certain key responsibilities given to us by the nature!

Anger pushes us towards insanity, that’s true! We loose control over our emotions several times a day, don’t we?
